We women like to be pampered. So for Naomi’s 2nd week birthday she got a manicure and pedicure, a full-on bath (she doesn’t enjoy this yet or maybe we’re just doing it wrong) and instructions for baby massage. The lady who does mama’s post-partum massage (Blue Heron Healing Arts in Leschi) spent an hour explaining oma and mama the various techniques to help the baby’s digestive system and development of the nervous system. While she was asleep this went pretty smooth, but once she woke up she was rather pre-occupied with getting fed and working her bowels … but we’re hopeful that we can find the 15 minutes a day to do this. Baby massage is a long standing tradition in India. I heard about this during birthing class from one of the participants who is from India.

Let’s hope it works, because it seems hard enough to grow and take in all that milk!
